Trace cache

Tag: trace-cache

Aliases: T$, dynamic trace cache

An instruction-cache replacement (Peleg & Weiser; Rotenberg et al.) that stores dynamic instruction sequences (traces) including statically non-contiguous instructions. A trace is tagged by its first PC plus the taken/not-taken pattern of its embedded branches, enabling wide single-cycle fetch across taken branches.
