Load queue (LQ)

Tag: load-queue

Aliases: LQ

A FIFO of in-flight load addresses kept in program order and associatively searchable. Used to detect memory ordering violations: when an older store's address resolves to one a younger speculative load already issued past, the LQ raises a flush. Sized roughly 20–30% of ROB.
