Dynamic Voltage/Frequency Scaling (DVFS)

Tag: dvfs

Aliases: DVFS, voltage and frequency scaling, P-states

A power-management technique that adjusts the supply voltage and clock frequency at runtime to match the workload's performance demand. Because dynamic power scales as roughly V^3 when V tracks f, even small frequency reductions yield disproportionate power savings.
